THE BLACK VELVET BAND

Formed in 2023 in Kansas City, MO, The Black Velvet Band (BVB) came together through long-held friendship and a shared love of Irish folk music. Its name originated through a tongue-in-cheek pun referencing the classic Irish folk song, and the tune has become a signature favorite of their performances. The original plan was to perform once a year at St. Patrick’s Day, but the group quickly realized that a one-time appearance every year wasn’t enough.

Composed of piano, guitar, bass, drums, and close three-part vocal harmony, BVB’s style is lively and fun, showcasing their musicianship through traditional folk song.
